
CITY OF MALOLOS-May 7, 2021 THE Department of Science and Technology (DOST) through its Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) technology developed Enhanced “Nutribun” all natural ingredient, food color, fiber without artificial flavor or preservative, zero trans – fat and no cholesterol.
The bread “Nutritious Bun” provides energy, protein, vitamins A and minerals such as iron, calcium, potassium and zinc needed by growing children. With hands-on supervision of the very hardworking and accommodating staff of DOST Bulacan Director Angie Q. Parungao together with the four (4) certified FNRI adaptors of the Technology Licensing Agreement.
Everyone was delighted by the distribution as a component for the Supplemental Feeding Program that was funded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) allocated in 21 Town and 3 cities of the province and is represented by DSWD Region 3 Nutritionist Maria Johanna S. Alincastre.
Science driven solution incorporating real “squash” inside a healthy bread especially now in the time of pandemic, it is a big help in combating malnutrition and hunger just like the way it was created before.
Racky D. Doctor, President of NUTRIDENSE Food Manufacturing, the main supplier of bread needed augmentation so he encourages other adaptors.
Also on the part of the province, Governor Daniel Fernando was represented by the head of the Provincial Social Welfare Development Office (PSWDO) Ms. Weng Tiongson and Ms. Grace Villacorta.
As of the moment, the Bulakenyo adaptors were Loubelle Bakery of Tikay, Malolos represented by Ms Lourdes Pineda; Danrich Bakery of Poblacion, Baliwag represented by Ms. Lenie Cuevas; E. V. Cuevas Bakeshop of Poblacion Sta Maria represented by Alma Cuevas and Cuevas Bread of the City of San Jose del Monte represented by Eddie Maalihan (who has failed to attend)
Total of 45,000 day care pupils daily are the beneficiaries of the Supplementary Feeding Program of the DSWD which is a nationwide project (RA 11037 or The Masustansyang Pagkain Para sa Batang Pilipino Act) and good for 120 days only.
