LAST March 10 of this year (2023) the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) through its spokesperson Commissioner Yusoph J. Mando issued a public advisory to brethren around the country who though that what they were consuming for the longest time was Halal but scientific evidence shows otherwise.

In collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Calabarzon they had performed qualitative examinations on mainstream process meat products that are available to the general public and the results of the laboratory test conducted on blind samples shows five (5) of the fifty one (51) bearing the Halal logo were found to have been contaminated with porcine (pork) or its derivatives.

The products were : 1. CDO Chicken Franks; 2. Holiday Chicken Hotdog; 3: CDO Ulam Burger; 4. CDO Crrispy Chicken Burger and 5. CDO Chicken Flakes. the commission also said that the Halal Certifier of these products were not accredited by the NCMF that is why they are advising the Muslim brethren in all Muslim Communities to take caution since Halal is not just a part of the Islamic faith but it is away of life.

immediately, CDO Foodsphere, the manufacturer of the contested products releases a statement assuring the public that their products namely the 5 contested ones were Halal and in compliance to the Sharia Law and they have reiterated that the news about their products were mere false information and the public as well as the Muslims can be assred that their products are legitimately Halal.

to be truthful, a lot of information being disseminated over the internet can indeed be false because of the proliferation of fake news coming from facebook but for an information about the Islamic fatith, Halal in particular coming from none other than the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF), the government agency taking care of the welfare of the Filipino Muslim coupled with the credibility of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the country’s science authority whom its state of the art technology can detect the presence of pork DNA on consumer products before it be certified as Halal, Muslims can only Pray, be vigilant and watch what they would eat always.
