FREE MENTORSHIP TRAVELS TO LUCKY CHINATOWN

Last February 28, Go Negosyo’s Mentor ME On Wheels goes to Lucky Chinatown located in Binondo, Manila — the heart of the oldest Chinatown in the world.

More than 500 micro-entrepreneurs, both aspiring and existing negosyantes attended the free one-on-one mentoring session. Present during the program were Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship and Go Negosyo Founder Joey Concepcion; CEO of Alliance Global Inc. Kevin Tan; Senators Sonny Angara and Bam Aquino; CEO of SL Agritech Henry Lim Bon Liong; Chairman of Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry George Barcelon; President and CEO of Richprime Global Myrna Yao; President of Destileria Limtuaco & Co., Inc. Olivia Limpe-Aw;  CEO of Wilcon Depot William Belo; CEO of Universal Leaf Winston Uy; CEO of Lapid’s Chicharon & Barbecue Rey Lapid; President and CEO of FERN Inc., Tommany Tan; President of Convergence Realty & Development Corp. George Siy; CEO of Uratex Naty Cheng; President of Cellprime Distribution Corp. Eric Yu, among others.

PA Joey Concepcion shared, “The value of the advice that you get is worth more than any amount of money because these advice could take them to the next level of success.”

Moreover, Kevin Tan gave an inspiring message for all mentees. He emphasized three best qualities: passion, humility, and integrity that every entrepreneur must possess. He said, “Your success depends so much on your openness to embrace these values. Find the right balance among these three and you will certainly be on your way to making a difference in whatever endeavor you decide to pursue.”

In his speech, Sen. Bam Aquino highlighted the importance of 3Ms: mentorship, money and market for start-up and micro and small entrepreneurs. “Tuloy-tuloy po ang aming serbisyo upang ang tatlong M ay maabot ng mas maraming Pilipino para mas marami po sa atin ang umangat nang sabay-sabay.”

Additionally, Sen. Sonny Angara also graced the program and expressed his support to the entrepreneurship advocacy of Go Negosyo.

The MMOW program is in line with President Rodrigo Duterte’s vision to capacitate micro-small businesses in boosting the Philippine economy. Through MMOW, mentors are introduced to micro and small entrepreneurs, and offers technical and practical know-how on entrepreneurship through sessions in more convenient and accessible locations.

Go Negosyo in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry aims to bring mentorship closer to every Filipino by conducting FREE mentorship across the nation in the convenience of the MSMEs.

Megaworld is a staunch supporter and a partner of Go Negosyo in serving the MSMEs and has been actively involved in Go Negosyo programs. This leg was made more special as Lucky Chinatown, a Megaworld property, served as the official venue partner of Go Negosyo’s Mentor Me on Wheels.

MALAYSIA PRIME MINISTER TUN DR. MAHATHIR BIN MOHAMAD MEETS WITH PHILIPPINE BUSINESS LEADERS

ASEAN Business Advisory Council Philippines and business leaders met with Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Bin Mohamad last March 7, 2019 in a bilateral meeting to discuss how to further strengthen the economic relationship between Malaysia and Philippines. PM Mahathir is in the Philippines for an official visit after the invitation of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte to discuss political, economic and social cooperation between the two countries.

ASEAN Business Advisory Council Philippines Chairman and Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion first thanked Prime Minister Mahathir for always giving time to meet and support the business sector. Concepcion also thanked him for being instrumental in the peace process.

The discussion revolved around the economic relations of Malaysia and Philippines through infrastructure investments, and exchange of goods and services between the two countries.

ASEAN BAC Philippines Member and Vice Chair of SM Investments Corporation Tessie Sy-Coson opened the discussion on sovereign investment funds. Sandy Prieto-Romualdez, President of Philippine Daily Inquirer asked PM Mahathir on his hopes for ASEAN. The 94-year old leader said that countries’ must have fast economic growth which then will lead to the growth of the region.

The topic on trade and investments was raised by Filinvest Land President and CEO Josephine Gotianun-Yap. PM Mahathir agreed that countries’ must first grow in trade then in investments.

Aside from these topics, PM Mahathir also shared his secrets in maintaining good health despite his age.

Overall, the bilateral meeting became an avenue to hear the Prime Minister’s wisdom on leadership and foreign relationships. Selected members of the economic team of Malaysia also joined the meeting.
