PhilAAST is proud to announce the 73rd Annual Convention, with the theme “Ensuring Food Security through Science, Technology, and Innovation

The Philippine Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology, through its President, former DOST Secretary Fortunato T. De La Peña, invites the Philippines` researchers, industry leaders, scientists, inventors, and academicians to join its annual Convention to be held on Monday, September 9, 2024, at the Manila Hotel 

The 73rd Annual Convention will be keynoted by DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr., to be represented by DA Undersecretary Agnes Catherine T.Miranda.The Annual event will serve as a platform for discussion and interaction on Food Security anchored on Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) Solutions, Empowering Agricultural Cooperatives, and promoting Tech-based start-ups supporting Food Security 

PhilAAST aims to encourage and strengthen scientific and technical collaboration among its member -and non-member researchers.Established in 1951, PhilASST (formerly PhilAAS) is an association of scientists and technologies in the country with the primary objective of promoting science’s value in the community.

The 73rd Convention will announce the winners of the Dr Gregorio Y.Zara Awards for Basic Research;Dr Gregorio Y. Zara Awards for Applied Research; Dr. Paulo C. Campos Award for Health Research;David M. Consunj Award for Engineering Research;LEADS Agri Award for Agricultural Research; Dr Ceferino L. Follosco Award for Product Process Innovation; Dr. Michael R.Purvis Award for Sustainability Research; and Dr Lourdes E. Campos Award for Public Health and the new Francis Ferrer Awards for Productivity through Technology 

One of the exciting things to see at the Convention is the presentation of the launching of the PHILAAST College of Fellows, highlights of the three hybrid seminars, and the awarding of best posters 

Lastly, two plenary speakers will discuss a Sustainable and Globally Competitive Agribusiness System and Building Resilient Food Security integrating Genetic and Farming Innovations.
