Using satellite images is vital for saving lives and property. In a macro scale space date from European unions Copernicus and sentinel 1 and sentinel 2 data was a great help in mitigating the disaster brought about by the eruption of taal in Batangas.

The Philippines has been a strategic partner of EU in this endeavor. The Philippines institute of volcanology and seismology of the department of science and technology and the advance science and technology institute benefits most from these data.

On the other hand the agriculture and environment departments also benefits through these EU space based high resolution optical data.

The interpretation of data can be difficult because of it’s open source based mean anyone can access the data that is why the use of Copernicus data can pose danger and of national security.
