Bulacan honors outstanding LGUs, workers in closing of Nutrition Month; Bulakan bags top award

CITY OF MALOLOS — In a bid to advance a healthier province, the Provincial Government of Bulacan recognized outstanding local government units, barangays, nutrition workers, and partner stakeholders during the culminating activity of the 2026 Nutrition Month celebration held July 31 at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center.

Leading the roster of awardees was the Municipality of Bulakan, which was proclaimed Natatanging Bayan sa Nutrisyon, receiving a plaque of recognition and ₱100,000 cash prize. Placing second was Guiguinto with ₱75,000, while Doña Remedios Trinidad took third place with ₱50,000.

For the Natatanging Barangay sa Nutrisyon category, Barangay Pinagtuluyan in Norzagaray emerged as champion, bringing home a plaque and ₱30,000. Barangay San Francisco in Bulakan placed second with ₱20,000, while Barangay Bagong Barrio in Pandi finished third with ₱10,000.

Recognized as Natatanging Lingkod Lingap sa Nayon was Joana Marie S. Marquez of Barangay San Francisco, Bulakan, who received a plaque and ₱7,000 cash incentive for her dedication to nutrition programs at the grassroots level. Meanwhile, Maricar M. Parone of Bulakan was honored as Natatanging Pambayang Tagapagpaganap ng Nutrisyon, earning a plaque and ₱8,000 for her exemplary leadership in implementing municipal nutrition initiatives.

Service awards were also conferred to nine Lingkod Lingap sa Nayon, three members of the Technical Working Group, and Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Mary Jane De Leon of Bustos. Each received a certificate of recognition and ₱5,000 cash incentive in appreciation of their commitment to the nutritional well‑being of Bulakenyos.

The Provincial Government also awarded the Green Banner Seal of Compliance to the municipalities of Angat, Bocaue, Bulakan, Bustos, Doña Remedios Trinidad, Guiguinto, Marilao, Norzagaray, Obando, San Ildefonso, San Miguel, and San Rafael for meeting provincial nutrition standards and upholding good nutrition governance.

The municipalities of Plaridel and Santa Maria received the Nutrition Honor Award – Maintenance, each getting a plaque and ₱5,000 for sustaining excellence in their nutrition programs.

Adding color to the event was the Bahay Kubo Cooking Contest, which showcased creative, nutritious dishes made from locally grown vegetables. Calumpit clinched the championship and ₱12,000 prize, followed by Bulakan in second place with ₱10,000, and Santa Maria in third with ₱8,000. Governor Daniel R. Fernando and Vice Governor Alexis C. Castro further boosted the contest by doubling all cash prizes in support of the province’s nutrition advocacy.
