The Excellent command of the English language of the Filipino does not in any way hinder the propagation of the National Language and its intellectualization says the newly appointed Chairman of the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino or KWF, Dr. Arthur Cassanova, the country’s premier authority when it comes to the National language “Filipino”.

In a press conference attended by all the commissioners including Dr. Cassanova recently coinciding the National language Month (August), they answered questions from the media about President ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr.’s take on the imposition of a single National Language much like in our neighboring ASEAN countries.

At the recent State of the Nation Address of President BBM he says that the Excellent Command of the English language by us, the Filipino people is an invaluable asset but he does not in anyway discount the possibility of propagating and utilizing the National Language “Filipino” as an intellectualized medium of instruction.

Cassanova says that it can be used side-by-side with each other and it will not affect each others propagation, the problem that he sees in the part of primary education is we have to empower the teachers and train them to be experts in both languages.
