IT has been two consecutive years since the winners of the annual Balagtasan is from Mindanao beating those of Bulacan which the discipline originates. Partially this was the answer of Vim Nadera of the Philippine High School for the Arts to the question raised by www.dzmjonline at the virtual presscon of the 9th DIWANG of the National Commission for Culture and The Arts (NCCA) quite recently via zoom by the way “Diwang” stands for the Sagisag ng Kultura ng Filipinas Competition.
The video oriented online news portal www.dzmjonline.net asked the resource speakers on how the government could incorporate culture to the education system particularly in Mindanao where there are a lot of misinformation and disinformation about the three major groups of people (Muslim, Christians and Lumads).
Recent studies shows that these groups aren’t different from each other nor a distinct groups of people instead they intermingle with each other and form the majority of people in Minadanao. Like there are Muslims that are Lumad and are some Christians that are Lumad also notwithstanding the fact that there are still small groups of Lumad which retains their unique cultural identity, they are either Muslim or Christian.
Conversations, competitions, government programs and projects of the like are essential in bridging communication with the entire Filipino populace having the feel of inclusivity. Present are resource persons such as: Dr. Orlando B. Magno, Vim Nadera, Alvin Ringgo C. Reyes, Sonny Cristobal, and the NCCA.///Mj Olvina-Balaguer, 09053611058, maryjaneolvina@gmail.com at konekted@dzmjonline.net DZMJ ONLINE MAKABULUHANG JORNALISMO YOUR HAPPINESS CHANNEL
