CITY OF MALOLOS – “This legacy of FPJ, I will carry this with me into public service, in my service to my fellowmen in Bulacan.”
This was the heartfelt statement of Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando after being honored with the prestigious FPJ Memorial Award for Excellence during the 74th Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Annual Awards Night on October 27, 2026, at the Fiesta Pavilion of The Manila Hotel, Rizal Park, Ermita, Manila City.
In his acceptance speech, Fernando expressed gratitude to the FAMAS organization for the recognition, admitting that he no longer expected to receive acting awards after devoting much of his time to public service, which left him with fewer opportunities to pursue film and television projects.
Fernando dedicated the award to the Bulakenyos, his family, and everyone who continues to trust and support him in his journey as a public servant.
Recalling his experience filming “Ang Pagbabalik ng Probinsyano”—where FPJ even offered to help him when he first entered politics as vice mayor—Fernando shared the most important lesson that became etched in his mind and heart.
“Alam mo, Daniel, ang paglilingkod, hindi ka lamang basta magaling, dapat may malasakit sa kapwa,” Fernando shared.
For the governor, the lesson went beyond the world of entertainment and politics. It embodied the kind of leadership that puts people first, regardless of their social standing.
“Kay FPJ, walang mahirap, walang mayaman, walang mababa at walang mataas,” he added.

Fernando to receive FPJ Memorial Award for Excellence at 74th FAMAS Awards
CITY OF MALOLOS — Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando is set to receive the FPJ Memorial Award for Excellence at the 74th Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Annual Awards Night on October 27, 2026, at the Fiesta Pavilion of The Manila Hotel.
The prestigious recognition honors Fernando’s contributions to Philippine cinema as a film actor, acknowledging his role in the country’s entertainment industry before he became a prominent public servant.
For the governor, the recognition serves as a distinction for his work in the entertainment industry and his place in the continuing story of Filipino filmmaking.
“Ang pelikula ay naging bahagi ng aking buhay at nagbigay sa akin ng pagkakataong makapaghatid ng saya, inspirasyon, at mahahalagang kuwento sa ating mga Pilipino. Ang pagkilalang ito ay nagpapaalala sa akin na anuman ang ating larangan, ang pinakamahalaga ay ang makapag-iwan tayo ng magandang alaala at makabuluhang ambag sa buhay ng ating kapwa,” he said.
Prior to his career in government, Fernando established himself in the Philippine film industry through roles that showcased his versatility and passion for storytelling. His journey from the silver screen to public service reflects his diverse contributions to Filipino society.
Paying tribute to the enduring legacy of the late Fernando Poe Jr.—widely known as the King of Philippine Movies—the FPJ Memorial Award for Excellence recognizes individuals whose artistry, dedication, and contributions have helped shape the history and continuing development of Philippine cinema.
The 74th FAMAS Annual Awards Night will bring together personalities from the Philippine entertainment industry to recognize outstanding achievements and celebrate the contributions of individuals who have helped enrich the country’s cinematic heritage.
