MARITIME INDUSTRY STAKEHOLERS TRAINED FOR SAFETY AT SEA BY MARINA REGION 6

MANILA- At the central office of the Maritime Industry Authority, an agency under the Department of Transportation that caters to the welfare of the maritime and seafarer has started today the ship onboard familiarization for media covering the maritime beat it aims to impart appreciation to the media on how the industry works particularly the local seafaring industry

Eighteen members of the fourth estate coming from television, radio, newspaper and online media including social media whom has been covering the industry also included are representative of sectors in the maritime industry and MARINA region 6 went to Caticlan Malay Aklan the gateway to the famous Boracay Island.

Before going to Boracay the media visited the training of the local seafarer that ferries people to Boracay and adjacent islands in the MIMAROPA, iloilo ang Aklan, the Modified Basic Safety Training officiated by Ms Gloria Lagarde with Gender sensitive, fire and typhoon awareness by which passing participants will get their license so the can use them for livelihood
