BLOOD DONATED, NEW HOPE: Bloodletting, Hearing Aid, and Prosthetic Leg Awarding Held in Malolos

MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan — Athenie Ramirez Bautista, Chairperson of Damayang Filipino Movement Inc. (DFMI), led the successful implementation of the Bloodletting and Medical Services Project last July 3, 2026 at the Hiyas Convention Center. The activity was conducted in cooperation with the Provincial Government of Bulacan, under Governor Daniel R. Fernando, who also serves as the founder of DFMI.

In her remarks, Chairperson Athenie Ramirez Bautista highlighted the mission of the initiative:

“This meaningful undertaking turns donated blood into life, and our support into new hope. Through this program, we do not just collect blood—we give people the chance to recover, move freely, and hear again. Every effort is meant to uplift the lives of our fellow Bulakenyos.”

The event combined life-saving and life-enhancing services:

  • Bloodletting activity to replenish the local blood supply
  • Distribution of hearing aids for persons with hearing impairment
  • Turnover of prosthetic legs to restore mobility and independence

A total of 157 units of blood were successfully collected, while 118 prospective donors were deferred in compliance with standard health and safety protocols.

Chairperson Bautista extended her gratitude to all partners and supporters:

“None of this would be possible without our strong partners. Their dedication shows the true spirit of bayanihan—helping one another without expecting anything in return.”

She acknowledged the following collaborators:

  • Provincial Government of Bulacan
  • Provincial Health Office (PHO)
  • Bulacan Provincial Blood Center
  • Civil Society Organizations (CSOs)
  • Various government agencies

Governor and DFMI Founder Daniel R. Fernando praised the program, noting that it carries the organization’s core goal of serving the marginalized.

DFMI assured the public that similar projects will continue to be held across Bulacan to build a healthier, more inclusive, and caring community.
