HAGONOY, Bulacan — Hagonoy Mayor Ma. Rosario Sy Alvarado-Mendoza has appealed to the national government for urgent assistance to relocate residents from five barangays most severely affected by perennial flooding in the municipality.
In her statement, Mayor Alvarado-Mendoza emphasized the urgent need for a sustainable solution to protect families whose homes are frequently submerged. At the same time, she assured the public that despite the municipality experiencing high floodwater levels, the local government remains proactive in preparing for the El Niño phenomenon, including initiatives to conserve water resources.
DPWH Secretary Inspects Iba Pumping Station
Earlier that same morning, DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon visited Hagonoy alongside Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando to inspect the pumping station in Barangay Iba, which is now fully operational and helping mitigate floodwaters in the area.
The officials assessed the facility’s performance and discussed further flood control measures to support the municipality’s flood resilience efforts.
ARTA Conference and Community Hospitality
Later in the day, Mayor Alvarado-Mendoza and her team also participated in a virtual conference via Zoom with representatives from the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) to discuss streamlining government services and improving local regulatory processes.
Throughout the day of October 12,2026, the municipal government extended a warm welcome to all visitors, offering traditional hospitality—serving coffee and hot sopas to guests and teams on-site as a gesture of gratitude and community spirit.
The local government continues to call for coordinated support from national agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of Hagonoy residents amid persistent flooding and changing weather patterns.
