2024 Gawad Pampublikong Aklatan Awarding Ceremonies

City of Manila-  Culminating Night for 6th Gawad Pampublikong Aklatan (GPA) Awarding Ceremonies held at 6th floor Epifanio de los Santos Auditorium , National  Library of the Philippines last March 22, 2024. In line with celebration of the 65th Public Library day in the Philippines. The National Library of the Philippines (NLP) and The Asia Foundation (TAF) in cooperation with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), and Philippine Information Agency (PIA).

” Anim na taon na ang nakalipas nang ating simulan ang pagbibigay ng ganitong  parangal para sa ating mga kasama na may parehong layunin sa ating pambansang aklatan- at iyon ang pag – aabot ng mga serbisyong pangkarunungan at pangkaalaman at pagpapalakas sa literasi bilang suporta sa ating sektor ng edukasyon; paglinang at pagpapaunlad ng ating kultura at kalinangan bilang taga pag-ingat ng mga tala at dokumentong sumasalamin sa pamana at kasaysayan ng bawat lalawigan, lungsod o bayan; pagsusulong ng de- kalidad na pagseserbisyo-publiko upang alalayan ang mga lokal na pamahalaan sa pagkakaroon ng programa para sa mga kababayan nating kabilang sa marginalized sector gaya ng mga person with disability, senior citizen, indigenous groups, kababaihan at iba pa”. emphasized by Cesar Gilbert Q. Adriano  Director IV, NLP.

Giving his message of support ” Tulad ng mga librong nagbibigay – kaalaman sa mga nagpapakadalubhasa sa mga ito, kayo ay tumutulong magpamulat sa ating mga komunidad at nagiging tulay upang mapaunlad ang kaalaman at kasanayan ng bawat Pilipino. Sa pagkakataong ito, pasasalamatan natin ang mga nagbigay ng oras at nagsumikap upang patatagin ang literasiya at pagyamanin ang kaalaman sa ating mga komunidad sa pamamagitan ng mga pampublikong aklatan.Sama-sama nating suportahan ang ating lokal na aklatan at itaas ang antas ng karunungan,kamalayan at kamulatan ng ating Bagong Pilipinas” according to Director General PIA Jose A. Torres Jr. 

The Asia Foundation as partner of NLP ” Over the years, the Foundation is honored with the trust that NLP have extended to us, From the longest Books for Asia Program of the Foundation and  as it transitioned to the Let’s read program, the biggest digital library across Asia, NLP have always supported the Foundation’s mission of improving lives, expanding opportunities and helping Filipinos, particularly young learners, flourish across a dynamic and developing Asia” message from Sam Chittick Country Representative TAF delivered by  Ms Myn  Garcia, Deputy Country Representative.
