UN’s WORLD FOOD DAY COINCIDED WITH PHILIPPINES’ WORLD PANDESAL DAY

QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES- Dr. Lily Lim, the representative for the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry incorporated (FFCCCII) talks about their intervention to the United Nations Celebration of World Food Day yesterday October 16 2022.

The world food day on the one hand is an international celebration coincided with yet another international celebration about food it is the World Pandesal day wherein bakeries from across the country that participated in the activity are giving away pandesal, the small bread which originated only here in the Philippines.

Pandesal which is coined from two spanish words literally mean salted bread is the usual staple food of Filipinos during breakfast. Inline with the celebration, the Chamber conducts a medical, dental and optical mission at the Kamuning Bakery attended by people from around the venue.

According to Flores, food security is still the reason for the activity although cost of ingredients for the bread like pandesal has increased he says that they will not change the sizes of their bread for the sake of their customers.

On the one hand, Dr. Lim of the Chamber assures their support for more humanitarian activities similar to the pandesal day since most members of the chamber are engaged in food, agriculture business aside from trading.///MJ Olvina-Balaguer, 09053611058, konekted@dzmjonline.net and maryjaneolvina@gmail.com
