ARTA and MCCI Join Forces to Enhance Ease of Doing Business in the Philippines with MOU Signing

8 September 2023 – A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) and the Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MCCI) at the Embassy of Malaysia on 07 September 2023.

The Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industries Philippines, Inc. (MCCI) is the first ASEAN member country to create a business Chamber in the Philippines that aims to advance the role of nation-building by fostering trade relations between Malaysia and the Philippines.

ARTA and MCCI have forged a partnership to promote ease of doing business in the Philippines aimed at facilitating investment and economic progress through closer cooperation and collaboration on initiatives to enhance the business environment.

Furthermore, this aims to streamline processes and share best practices and knowledge to create innovative solutions for the benefit of the broader business communities in the Philippines. Ultimately, this partnership is aimed to contribute to the economic development of the Philippines which also supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.’s current stride on strengthening ASEAN relationships.

“I would like to thank the Chamber for their trust in ARTA. We pledge our full commitment to making this partnership a success, and we will work with compassion and dedication to ensure that this will bring substantial benefits to all stakeholders”, ARTA Secretary Perez in his message.

This partnership has also empowered MCCI to be an avenue in receiving concerns from the business sector which will later on be acted upon by ARTA, as endorsed.

“The [Malaysian] Embassy is always open to support and be your partner in improving business sector here in the Philippines, so please use by all means”, said by His Excellency Malik.

MCCI Chairman Edward Ling expressed his gratitude saying, “I want to thank Secretary Perez for always responding fast to us. Working alongside with ARTA has a very positive feedback in working with the government.”

The event was graced by the Chairman and CEO of Asian Consulting Group Jose Magsaysay, Jr. Chief Growth Officer and Director of ONE Software Philippines, Inc. Jessica Pinlac-Sanchez and MCCI President How Han Hui.
