MANILA — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) is optimistic it can hit the ₱1 trillion annual collection target for 2026, set by Finance Secretary Frederick Go, said Director Noel Corpuz Estanislao, also known as “Datu Hamza,” Chief of the Enforcement and Security Service (ESS), during the agency’s anniversary celebration on September 1, 2026.

Director Estanislao reported that as of September, the bureau has been consistently meeting its monthly collection targets — even posting surpluses — with several months remaining to close the year. “We remain positive and determined to sustain this momentum until the end of 2026,” he stated.

Highlighting the Enforcement and Security Service’s key wins, Estanislao cited successful operations against cigarette smuggling in Surigao and Cebu, describing these as among the bureau’s most significant recent accomplishments in curbing illicit trade and protecting government revenues.

He noted that the enforcement arm — often referred to as the “Bureau Police” — will continue to intensify border security, intelligence-driven operations, and inter-agency coordination to prevent revenue leakage and ensure full compliance with customs laws.

The ₱1 trillion collection target represents a historic milestone for the bureau, reflecting the Marcos administration’s push for improved tax administration, modernized customs operations, and stronger anti-smuggling measures across all ports of entry.
