PAMPANGA, Philippines — In a heartfelt gesture of solidarity, the Malaysia Youth Golf Federation (MYFG), the Embassy of Malaysia in Manila, and the Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industries Philippines, Inc. (MCCI) have joined forces to deliver critical relief assistance to families and workers severely affected by the recent widespread flooding across Pampanga.
The joint response comes after floods submerged more than 330 villages throughout the province, displacing residents and disrupting livelihoods. Through the office of Pampanga Governor Lilia “Nanay Baby” Garcia Pineda, the Malaysian mission distributed essential food packs—including rice and canned goods—to 220 flood-affected families, providing immediate nutritional support amid the crisis.
Relief also reached 500 caddies and staff of Pradera Verde Golf & Country Club, whose own households were among those hit by the rising waters. The aid was handed out during the club’s September Monthly Medal tournament on 6 September 2026, recognizing the vital role these workers play in the sport while acknowledging the personal hardship many have endured.
The initiative was carried out under the leadership of His Excellency Dato’ Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino Anthony, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of the Philippines, as a concrete expression of Malaysia’s concern and friendship toward the Filipino people.
“Golf is ultimately about community, friendship and looking after one another. We are grateful for the opportunity to extend our support to families affected by the floods, as well as to the caddies and staff who have always supported our tournaments and made every round a memorable experience,” the organisers stated.
Beyond the food supplies, the effort underscored how the golfing community can serve as a bridge of compassion—turning partnerships forged through sport into tangible help in times of need. While modest, the organisers expressed hope the assistance would ease immediate burdens and contribute to the province’s recovery.
The Embassy, MYFG, and MCCI extended their deepest sympathies to all flood-affected communities in Pampanga and pledged continued solidarity as families rebuild.
