CALUMPIT, Bulacan — The Provincial Government of Bulacan officially conducted the rice distribution program under the national government’s “Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Bayan Makikinabang” initiative on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Barangay Pio Cruzcosa, Calumpit, Bulacan, bringing direct food assistance to thousands of families across the municipality.
The program is a flagship government initiative launched by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on February 23, 2026, designed to increase financial backing for local government units—utilizing mechanisms such as the Expanded Local Government Support Fund (LGSF)—to boost local funds and ensure timely, responsive assistance reaches the grassroots level.
Led by Governor Daniel R. Fernando and Vice Governor Alex Castro, the distribution was carried out through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO). They were joined by host Barangay Pio Cruzcosa Captain Jericho Christian Lubaton, Board Member Michael “Ninong” Aquino, other barangay captains, barangay officials, and PSWDO Head Rowena Tiongson.
Under the program, each eligible beneficiary will receive 10 kilograms of rice per tranche across three tranches, intended to substantially reduce daily household food expenses and ease the financial burden on families.
The distribution adopted a clustering system to serve neighboring communities as well, covering the barangays of Balite, Bugion, San Marcos, Longos, Calumpang, and Sergio Bayan—ensuring wider and more efficient delivery of assistance.
Governor Fernando emphasized that the activity reflects the core vision of the national leadership:
“This assistance is a direct fulfillment of President Marcos Jr.’s vision for a New Philippines—one where every town benefits, and no community is left behind. Through the strengthened LGSF and expanded support to LGUs, we can bring government aid faster and directly to those who need it most. Every kilogram of rice we distribute today lightens the load of our constituents.”
Local officials expressed their appreciation for the timely aid, noting that the multi-tranche rice allocation will provide sustained relief to vulnerable households throughout the covered barangays.
