Muntinlupa City- The Presidential Adviser on Muslim Affairs, Hon. Almarim C Tillah AL HAJ, visited the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) last February 23, 2024 regarding the flight and challenges of Muslim PDLs.

This initiative could foster a more inclusive and supportive environment for Muslim PDLs in custody, ensuring that their religious practices and cultural traditions are upraise and regarded.

As a Muslim himself and a former Governor of Tawi Tawi he formally lead action that aimed at preserving Muslim cultures within correctional facilities, emphasizing the significance of recognizing and respecting the religious and cultural identities of Muslim Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).

Moreover, Tillah also came upon the mosque/ masjid inside the New Bilibid Prison – Maximum Security Compound (MaxSeCom), engaging in Friday prayer or Jummah Salah alongside 300 Muslim PDLs. He expressed his profound gratitude to BuCor Director General GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE, CCLH for acknowledging the support extended to the Muslim PDLs.
