340 PDL Released last January 23

A total of 340 Person Deprived of Liberty (PDL) were released last January 23 2023 wherein they had already finished their sentence. the PDL’s were from DPPF 31, PMA 1, NBP-MAX 21, NBP-MED 111, NBP-MIN 22, SRPPF 42, SPPF 27, IPPF 21, CIW 33 for a TOTAL 340.

The Summary per mode of release are as follows: PAROLE 128, ACQUITTAL 1, RETURNEE DO 652 11, EXPIRATION MAX SENTENCE WITH GCTA (DO 652) 35, EXPIRATION MAX SENTENCE WITH GCTA 165.

According to the program titled: Paglaya ng mga PDL na nakapag tapos ng kanilang hatol “Bagong Taon, bagong pagkakataon, Pagasa mula sa mga bakas ng kahapon” it reiterates that the penal system in the country is geared toward rehabilitation and not much of confinement or detention.

Present during the releasing activity were: the BuCor Band during the singing of the National Anthem, CT/SINSP Dominic R. Librea for the prayers, the opening remarks were delivered by CTSSUPT. MA Cecilia Villanueva the Officer In Charge Deputy Director for Reformation.

A Message fro Atty. Persida Rueda-Acosta DSD, the Chief Public Attorney followed by the message from the Bureau of Corrections Acting Director General, General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. AFP Ret. CESE and another message from the Guest of Honor Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla of the Department of Justice.

Before the PDL’s were totally releases the BuCor gave them their respective Certificate of Discharge from Prison, Grooming Kit, Gratuity and Transportation Allowances. the program Emcees were CO1 Dexter Sonza and CO1 Regina Lingbawan. like the theme says new year, new opportunities, new hope without the traces of the past.

COMELEC WILL HOLD A SATELLITE REGISTRATION FOR PDL

COMELEC will hold a nationwide special satellite registration for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) in relation to the 2023 Barangay and SK Elections.

A ceremonial kick off will be held at the National Bilibid Prison Compound, Muntinlupa city. The registration will be held January 11, 2023 (wed) at 7:00 a.m.

Chairman George Erwin Garcia will attend the said event. Members of the Media are invited to cover and interested parties May contact ms. Rachel Fortuno.

Being allowed to vote is one of the basic human rights so it is important that everyone except those that have been convicted has that right as Filipino according to the Philippine Constitution.

PWD PDL WILL BE TRANSFERRED FROM MAXIMUM TO MINIMUM

the transfer of aged, sickly and disabled PDL from Maximum to Minimum Security Compound will be done becauseSome of them can no longer walk and without the assistance of others.

The current administration is compassionate enough to provide them with a better living condition and to inform the public about their situation, as we will recommend them for possible executive clemency.

Ceremony of 533 newly hired Corrections Officer 1 at 8:00 a.m. at the Sunken Garden, New Bilibid Prison, National Headquarters will be held and is allowed to be covered by the media.
