The Toulista app initiated a project from DOST Mimaropa Dr Nenette Abilay and DOT MImaropa.

On the Awarding of Visual Arts Sining Siyensya from its concept The DOST NCR in collaboration with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) presents ” Sining Syensya, Weaving art and Science for Reintegration”, a painting competitin organized with goal of providing Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) with a platform for artistic expression and to promote reintegration through art.
From Manila City Jail Male Dormitory First Prize Entitle ” Dreamweaver” Tnalak is a traditional hand-woven cloth indigenous to the Tboli people from the Cotabato Region. It is woven in order to celebrate and pay tribute to major life events such as birth,life,marriage or death within a community. The gears and mechanisms symbolize modernization and science that will open jobs for the people. Plants as a material used textile to promote Sustainable Fashion.
The Second Prize from Muntinlupa City Jail Male Dormitory entitled ” Evolution” This piece of artwork wants to express the theme ” Siyensya sa Bawat Habi’t Hibla” on how to produce fabric from the old way by using hand to modernized way by using machine.
The Third Place from Las Pinas City Jail Male Dormitory entitled ” Thread of Life” Th painting captures the intricate relationship between scientific knowledge and traditional practices, symbolizing how there are interwoven each thread represents a strand of knowledge passed down through generations, blending tradition with modern scientific advancements. The vibrant colors, and detailed patterns reflect the diversity and complexity of scientific fields and their influence on various aspects of life. It encourages an appreciation of how ancestral wisdom and modern innovation are not separate, but rather part of the same enduring legacy that shapes and sustains our communities.
Dr. Julius Leano Jr, Director of DOST Philippine Textile Research Institute informed everybody that DOST PTRI is the only Textile Authority in all government agencies. Showcasing the PSE Sustainable Collection and PTRI’s KatHABI PTFs Reimagined fashion show from different textile Bamboo textile.
